Welcome to the 2009 Heinlein NewSpace Business Plan Competition (“HNS BPC”). We appreciate your interest in participating in this year’s event, hosted by the Space Frontier Foundation at its annual NewSpace Conference being held this year at NASA's Ames Research Center in Silicon Valley July 17-20, 2009.  Join us as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 landing--humanity's first step on another world.

A maximum of 10 teams will be invited to compete in the 2009 HNS BPC and will compete for a $5,000 grand prize.  Teams will have the opportunity to meet and network with space industry executives, investors, and successful entrepreneurs who will be in attendance at the conference and serving as judges.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Each team must meet the following requirements in order to compete in the 2009 HNS BPC:

Team Size: The presenting team should not exceed five people.

Nature of Ventures: The competition is for new, independent ventures in the seed, start-up, or early growth stages.  The company should have technologies or products which advance the NewSpace movement.  Generally excluded are the following: buy-outs, expansions of existing companies, real estate syndications, tax shelters, franchises, licensing agreements for distribution in a different geographical area.  Licensing technologies from universities or research labs is not excluded and is encouraged, assuming they have not been commercialized previously.

How to Enter

To enter, one individual from the team should complete the online entry form.  This must be completed no later than 5:00 pm EST Friday, June 19, 2009.  A 3- 5 page executive summary must accompany your intent to compete form.  Teams that are invited to participate will be required to submit their full written business plan by July 3, 2009.
